The Manager Human Resources, EEO & Diversity is responsible for:
  • HR generalist support to the Claims department, which includes outreach, staffing, talent development, employee relations support.
  • Leads/Participates in Recruiting/Staffing efforts for   Law, Claims, State/Government Affairs and Public Affairs, Corporate Communications and Compliance/Audit.
  • Works closely with the HR Director, EEO providing input and oversight to BNSF’s 11 field-based diversity councils as well as acting as part of a team to provide direction and support to BNSF's Business Resource groups.
  • Assist with the review and dissemination of BNSF’s Affirmative Action Plan (AAP).  Support the AVP, HR & Diversity in the implementation of enterprise-wide leading EEO/AA best practices and initiatives to include harassment prevention and compliance training.  Design and deliver training EEO/AA training with proactive coverage and as needed or requested; provide supporting consults and thought leadership to businesses and functional areas relating to affirmative action planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Manage vendor(s), budget, and internal client groups for compliance with BNSF’s policies and strategic objectives. 
Specific duties include:
  • Working closely with AVP & Director, Human Resources and Diversity in support of BNSF's diversity initiatives, programs and processes.
  • Identifying systematic changes that progress the company's Business Resource Group networks.
  • Recognizing and defining opportunities to enhance diversity in the workplace
  • Coordinating monthly meetings for Business Resource Groups and Diversity Council and other internal/externally hosted event
  • Assisting Diversity Councils in setting annual goals and methods to measure and achieve those goals.
  • Outreach efforts on behalf of BNSF and tracking these efforts
  • Leading efforts to complete EEO-1, AAPs, VETS 100.  Work with outside vendor in coordinating AAP and preparing appropriate communications.
  • Ensuring legal compliance in reporting and workplace signage
  • Project Manager for OFCCP audits and other fact finding 
  • Recruiting, selecting and hiring employees and managing the process in applicable HRIS systems
  • Driving and owning the recruiting strategy, to include participation in the screening of applicants and the hiring event for Intern / Management Trainees programs for supported areas.
  • Coaching/advising managers/supervisors on employee relations issues
  • Investigating EEO / employee concerns raised through BNSF’s hotline and internal complaint process
  • Answer employee questions and address employee concerns regarding a wide range of human resources topics (benefits, compensation, programs, etc)
  • Conducting exit interviews for employees leaving company
  • Processing all employee changes in HRIS
  • Creating pay recommendations based on internal equity and compensation structure
  • Maintaining employee career / talent development information
  • Staying current in HR topics by participating in educational opportunities
  • Driving efficiencies related to human resource functions through technology and training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Sociology, Psychology or business-related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in human resources as an HR Generalist
  • Proficient in BNSF’s suite of software, including all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Share point and Outlook)
  • Must be able to handle confidential matters discreetly
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including event and project planning
  • In depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices specifically to Affirmative Action Plans
  • Employment law knowledge; staying abreast of legislation updates
  • Familiarity of government reporting (EEO-1, AAPs, VETS 100)
  • Resourceful problem solving abilities
  • Experience working in and navigating HR software (SuccessFactors, SAP, PeopleSoft, etc)
  • Proven ability to communicate with leaders at all levels
  • Ability to multitask and manage a wide range of duties and responsibilities on time
  • Customer service skills- respond and support high-level clients across a variety of topics
  • Ability to drive strategy along with leadership skills
  • Two or more years of formal experience in Diversity & Inclusion
  • BNSF Field knowledge 
  • Human Resource Certification (CP, SCP, PHR, SPHR)
