The Director of Prospect Management and Research is responsible for planning, implementing and directing all prospect management and research program activities to support and guide the fundraising efforts of the University.
1. Establish and implement policies and procedures related to prospect management and research. Supervise prospect management and research staff. Assign projects, track progress, and review and approve final product. 
2. Identify, research, and evaluate current and potential major gift prospects and assess their ability and inclination to financially support the University. Provide research and analysis of biographical, philanthropic, professional and financial information of donors and prospects. Prepare written profiles, event bios, and qualified lists to support the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects. 
3. Manage the prospect management/coordination process. Work with the Assistant Vice President to assign prospects by interest and affinity, manage movement through the pipeline, and assist frontline fundraisers in tracking strategies and activity. Develop prospect management reports and gift pyramids/charts for fundraising campaigns as needed.
4. Maintain ResearchPoint database and ensure Raiser’s Edge is routinely updated with biographical, philanthropic, professional and financial information of donors and prospects as acquired through screenings and research projects.
5. Provide training to frontline fundraisers as needed on the usage of NXT, Raiser’s Edge, and ResearchPoint. 
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of five years of experience in development or development research, preferably in higher education; experience in prospect management/coordination; strong computing skills and knowledge of database maintenance and retrieval; familiarity with on-line search engines and other research resources; excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and organizational skills; knowledge of advanced prospect research techniques and reference materials; skill in analyzing financial and statistical information; ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information; ability to work creatively; a commitment to fostering a collegial and team environment; and demonstrated supervisory and managerial experience or the equivalent experience.

Advanced degree preferred. Over 7 years of experience in prospect research and management/coordination; experience using Raiser’s Edge and NXT; experience building complex custom reports using Crystal Reports; experience managing a research/prospect management staff; prior work history at a higher education institution; experience with capital campaigns; the ability to work with a diverse student body, staff, and constituents is preferred.
