Position Purpose
Serves as the assistant to the Chief Financial Officer; serves as the liaison to the Division of Business & Finance staff; performs daily administrative duties and assures discreet handling of all business; conducts, organizes, and coordinates the office’s administrative duties and technical support and events, including the office’s workflow and staff utilization; analyzes, reviews, and presents data; drafts communications.

Essential Job Functions
Administrative Functions    
  • Creates, monitors, and maintains Chief Financial Officer’s heavy calendar activities. Schedules appointments, conferences, and meetings, and makes travel arrangements for the Chief Financial Officer. Researches and extracts information and supporting data in preparation for meetings, projects, and reports.  Analyzes information for projects and coordinates work projects with other departments. 
  • Plans, coordinates, collaborates, develops drafts and finalizes documents; maintains files and data bases; meets with committee members; and prepares agenda items for submission to the Board for approval.
  • Reviews the Chief Financial Officer’s heavy e-mail traffic and determines high priority items and monitors to ensure expedient response. Initiates and prepares all routine correspondence and reports; reviews and monitors reports submitted by departmental personnel for action; correlates and edits materials submitted by others as needed.
  • Reviews, responds and monitors requests submitted by the Superintendent, Fort Worth ISD Board members, and district staff.  Researches laws, policies, and practices that govern public school districts and existing related documentation in order to accurately communicate response.
  • Performs action authorized during the Chief Financial Officer’s absence and uses initiative and judgment to see that matters requiring attention are referred to delegated authority.
  • Prepares presentations and reports using PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Pro, Word, and other software as appropriate for meetings and presentations to the Board.
  • Provides information to District personnel, community groups, educational agencies, and the public concerning District Business & Finance policies and procedures.
  • Attends planning meetings and works with assigned committees to identify and serve the needs of the District.
  • Provides assistance for employee grievances, open records requests, or personnel matters.
  • Oversees notary application and training activities for Fort Worth ISD employees.
Accounting and Inventory
  • Develops, monitors, and maintains the budget for the Chief Financial Officer’s department.  Reconciles data; provides reports during the budgetary process.
Personnel Management
  • Supervises office staff; coordinates and maintains effective office procedures and efficient workflow; and provides work direction.
  • Provides advice and guidance to staff with respect to administrative procedures, processes, and practices; liaisons with central office departments as necessary.
