Description: The Manager, General Accounting provides direction to General Accounting staff to ensure accurate, timely recording and reporting of financial transactions and compliance with applicable statutes and regulations. Typical Duties:
  1. Selects, trains, manages and evaluates a staff of professional accountants and clerical support.
  2. Serves as a resource for Network accounting standards and processes.
  3. Maintains the Network’s financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, GASB, Network policies, and all applicable statutes and regulations.
  4. Manages the computerized chart of accounts and general ledger.
  5. Assists in the accurate and timely publication and appropriate distribution of the Network’s financial statements and management reports.
  6. Maintains a current overview of Network activities to ensure accounting procedures are current, all-inclusive and communicated to staff.
  7. Reviews and monitors the reconciliation of general ledger accounts monthly.
  8. Oversees preparation of schedules and documentation required for audits.
  9. Researches, analyzes and interprets complex legal agreements and allocation formulas into clear accounting procedures and management reports.
  10. Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws, regulations and reporting requirements for all areas of responsibility.
  11. Manages grant billing, reporting and audits according to contract and applicable regulations.
  12. Maintains and reports Network fixed asset and capital budget processes.
  13. Reviews and releases journal entries prepared by the General Accounting Staff.
  14. Responsible for special projects and assignments.
  15. Develops departmental operating budget annually. Prepares monthly reports on actual performance to budget.
  16. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline from an accredited University.
  • 5 plus years of progressive, management experience in health care environment.
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or related discipline from an accredited University.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
