Perform, under supervision, routine to moderate programming assignments, which normally require following detailed specifications and converting business rules into computer programs.  Requires the basic ability to analyze, design, develop, modify, debug and document computer programs in support of business applications.  Interaction and communication with project managers, peers, supervisors and managers on a regular basis.
Programming concepts, procedures and standards
Ability to develop and maintain programs using programming concepts, procedures and standards.  Conduct research, basic analysis and follow technical and design specifications to develop software programs.
Production Support
Perform basic debugging, troubleshooting and problem solving of programs.  Be available for providing after-hours/weekend/holiday production support when called upon.  May provide support on a 24-hour basis by participating in the Programmer of the Week (POW) and/or the E-mail of the Week (EOW) rotation.
Establish and meet deliverables
Required to learn and use good time management skills to establish project deliverables.  Work with senior developers and management to ensure stakeholders are informed and provided timely updates.
Technical Design and Architecture
Should be able to understand the fundamentals of design and architecture of computer programs.  Possess the aptitude and the willingness to learn and grow design, architecture, complex problem solving and complex programming skills.
Multitasking & Prioritizing
Present the ability to work on multiple priorities.  Seek guidance where applicable to help prioritize multiple priorities.
Communications Skills
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written technical and non-technical communication.  Proactively uses good business judgment and communications to keep IS Management informed regarding status, risks, obstacles, and other related information.
Leadership Skills
A positive attitude, good teamwork, professionalism & interpersonal skills proactively seeking solutions, taking initiative where necessary.  Ability to take and follow direction.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field -or- in lieu of degree 4+ years of relevant experience
Basic knowledge of programming languages and data structures
Ability to translate and develop logic from technical specifications
Fundamentals of design and architecture of computer programs
Ability to write technical specifications to help develop programs
Technical Competencies
0-2 years of programming in any programming languages, such as, Unibasic or MV Basic, Objective-C, C or Java.
Basic understanding of relational or multivalue databases including the use of SQL statements and/or JDBC.
Additional Skills Preferred:
Basic understanding and awareness of web technologies and development utilities, I.e., html, css, JSP, JSTL, JDBC, SQL, UniObjects, Unix, OO Programming, UML and eclipse IDE.
