About The Job
Our Manager of Learning Operations serves as the primary touchpoint ensuring a world-class learning experience for our team members. This leader supports a team that is responsible for planning and managing all the learning delivery logistics at the American Airlines Training and Conference Center (FlagShip University). This role partners with learning business units and the talent development team to provide operational support (logistics and resources for all training classes/initiatives). It includes supporting programs that range from new hire orientation, professional development, functional training and customized leadership development experiences. We are looking for high energy candidate with strong organizational skills who demonstrate the caring, collaborative and results-focused culture that we are striving to create. This individual will lead the Learning Operations team which includes Sr. Specialists, Coordinators and Staff Assistants. This position reports to the Director, Learning Experience.
Specifically, you’ll do the following:
  • Responsible for creating the environment for learners to learn by taking care of basic needs associated with the classroom experience, providing excellent customer service, and proactively solving any issues that arise
  • Provides overall project management for scheduling budgeted and core training classes as well as determine how to best accommodate those that are not budgeted
  • Establishes and sustains the team charter, team and individual goals, team members’ roles and responsibilities, measurement of progress and success
  • Leads a team that provides day-to-day support for training classes including:
    • Sets up registration in LMS and updates as needed
    • Maintains updated training curriculum resources
    • Schedules facilitators and guest speakers
    • Provides set-up/tear down of classrooms

  • Provides reporting for learning classes; enrollment, attendance and outcome measurements
  • Continually assesses and improves operating processes
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors a team of professionals so they achieve their goals and business results
  • Forecasts annual, quarterly and weekly training needs at learning center and offsite training
  • Collaborates with other training teams and vendor to optimize training space and resources
  • Develops and maintains an efficient and innovative training request process and associated technology
  • Prepares and manages annual budget for learning class resources
  • Negotiates with internal/external vendors for services needed for leadership events
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years relevant work experience, organizing and planning training, meetings or other events
  • 3 years of experience managing a team
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing 3rd party vendor partnerships
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a commercial airline company
