The Manager Corporate Strategy & Business Development will help define drives and implements strategy for the organization and business units within JCPenney by turning data and customer analysis into actionable insights to guide strategic direction and achieve financial objectives.  The role serves as a critical partner for senior leadership. The position reports to the Sr. Director of Corporate Strategy & Business Development.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work in conjunction with business leaders and their teams to identify and analyze important strategic initiatives and develop actionable strategic plans.
  • Gather and analyze information (internal and external), formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations.
  • Bring a strong customer-focused, data-driven approach to unlock new insights, drive innovation and create impactful change.
  • Conduct financial forecasting, market analysis, and competitive intelligence analysis to inform senior level management.
  • Coordinate and partner with cross-functional teams on large strategic initiatives.
Core Competencies & Accomplishments:
  • Bachelor degree with record of high academic achievement; MBA a plus.
  • 4-8 years of business and strategy experience from a corporate strategy role, top-tier management consulting firm or investment bank.  Consumer category or retail experience a plus.  
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills; both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable presenting to senior leadership.
  • Effective relationship building and influencing skills with all levels of an organization.
  • Adept at building executive level presentations, primarily in PowerPoint.
