Description: The Exec Dir Facilities Mgm and Plant Ops plans, organizes, supervises, coordinates and controls the activities of the plant operations and maintenance functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems, and grounds of this hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Typical Duties:
  1. Prepares department operating budgets on an annual basis and monitors areas of responsibility for compliance within current budget.
  2. Prepare and administer departmental performance evaluations.
  3. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  4. Promotes departmental and organizational activities for providing courteous customer service to patients, families, visitors and external customers.
  5. Participate in Leadership Development activities; implement strategies and processes to improve employee morale and performance.
  6. Responsible for the preventative maintenance, maintenance and repair of all district-owned/district-leased facilities including Life and Facility Safety systems, non-clinical equipment and machinery, utilities and grounds.
  7. Develops functional and strategic objectives, implements, plans and monitors progress, and revises plans as necessary, relative to Facilities Management/Plant Operations.
  8. Provides the Vice President, Support Services with written, ongoing progress reports for key initiatives.
  9. Directs and supports selection of personnel in Facilities Management/Plant Operations; conducts ongoing assessments and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development of staff to include a workforce staffing plan for the department.
  10. Develops and implements monitoring processes to ensure that the department’s performance is consistent with the organization’s metrics-based management performance system. Ensures that strategies and processes exist to maximize financial resource management, including development and achievement of financial performance objectives. Prepares and monitors annual budget to ensure appropriate performance against objectives.
  11. Participates in learning opportunities and continuing education programs to expand knowledge of professional discipline.
  12. Provides regular meetings and other forms of communications with reporting personnel and other affected staff members to ensure or operational and departmental issues.
  13. Administers and implements maintenance programs for non-clinical equipment to ensure uninterrupted operation of the physical plant and all JPS Facilities.
  14. Selects and coordinates maintenance service contractors and ensures all contractual provisions are met along with established codes.
  15. Develops both operating and capital budgets, including staff, equipment, materials, supplies and utilities. Continues to manage and monitor budget after adoption.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Required Education and Experience:
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited program.
  • 8 plus years’ experience in maintenance, management and plant operations of a health care facility or similar facility.
  • Licensing as a Professional Engineer.
