IT Enterprise Systems Engineer

Provides high level technical support for various network and computer infrastructure systems and platforms to include addressing and resolving complex technical issues, developing, implementing, and administering enterprise networks and systems, and providing technical expertise to internal/external contacts in a 24 hour 7 days a week operation. Provides guidance to Technical Support Specialists.
  1. Develops plans and oversees the implementation of enterprise infrastructure platforms. Establishes hardware and software migration plans, designs and analyzes requirements and specifications and develops production testing and change control procedures. Provides specifications for the acquisition of tools as required.
  2. Performs high-level root cause analysis for service interruption recovery and creating preventive measures.
  3. Addresses and resolves complex technical issues with internal/external contacts. Assists with problem resolution on referred calls from Network Operations Center. Including providing Tier 3 support for the enterprise environment; including Microsoft AD, VMware vCenter, SRM, HP EVA/3Par, VOIP, HP-UX, etc.
  4. Addresses and resolves complex technical issues with internal/external customers, including assisting with problems escalated through the Desktop Support (Tier-1) and Systems Administration Center (Tier-2).
  5. Develops and maintains precise system documentation, reports and presentations for management review.
  6. Initiates and creates enterprise strategies and plans for systems administration and security. Prepares and maintains storage management plans, including routine backups, long-term archives, and disaster recovery support. Collaborates in the development and deployment of the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  7. Secures network system by following and enforcing established policies and monitoring access.
  8. Analyzes enterprise job, system, and hardware performances. Develops and implements short and long term system performance improvements.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
  1. Bachelors degree in an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  2. Five (5) years experience in supporting enterprise software applications with at least one of the following: Windows Server, VMware ESX, VOIP, UNIX.
  3. For candidates applying for MCSE, VMware, or NEC Univerge 3C related role, two certifications are required. Current certification is required in at least one of the following: MCSE in Windows 2008 (or higher), VMware VCP5 (or higher), or NEC UNIVERGE 3C certification. Candidates who do not currently possess more than one of these certifications must obtain the second certification within 2-years of appointment. Certifications must stay current with industry standards for continued employment.
  4. For candidates applying for HP-UX related role, HP-UX CSA certification is required. Candidates who do not currently possess HP-UX CSA certification must obtain certification within 1 year of appointment. Certifications must stay current with industry standards for continued employment.
  5. Thorough understanding of IT management processes like ITIL.
  6. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of enterprise hardware, software, and associated equipment.
  7. Ability to work variable work hours. Available in the event of required emergency response.
  8. Exemplary analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex technical problems.
  9. Friendly, clear and courteous communicator (written and oral) who enjoys being an active member of a technical team focused on providing highly valued solutions to critical business customers and technical peers at all levels, both inside and outside of DART.
