The City of Fort Worth Water Department has an Assistant Director position available in our Management Services Division.  This job opportunity arises from the reorganization of the department’s operating structure. 
The Management Services Division has 82 full time positions and an annual operating budget of $18,000,000.00.  The division is responsible for the strategic, long-term direction of all Management Services of the water and wastewater utility including Information Technology, Organizational Development, Strategic Business and Financial Planning, Plant Security and Emergency Response, and Compliance Programs including Environmental Health and Safety, Records Management and Public Information.
This position is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and reporting to the Deputy Director of Business Services and plays a vital role in shaping the City’s Water and Wastewater Programs. 
The selected candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Administration, Finance, Business Management, Organizational Development, Information Technology or a related field. Additionally, the preferred candidate must have at least six (6) years of increasingly responsible administrative and management experience, preferably within a water/wastewater utility and  possess a valid driver’s license.     
Additionally, candidates would benefit from any of the following:
  • Experience effectively working with internal and external clients, delivering reports and projections, speaking effectively on technical issues in both formal and informal settings, and resolving citizen concerns.
  • Strong budget development and management experience including personnel, cost control and administrative practices and policies within a public sector organization.
  • IT strategy and planning experience with an understanding of the operations, services and activities of a comprehensive water and wastewater utility information systems and services program.
  • Involvement with and creating relationships with local, state and federal regulatory representatives.
  • Knowledgeable of and have experience implementing the principles and attributes of Effective Utility Management (EUM).
