The Planning and Development Department assists business owners, citizens, developers and contractors in obtaining construction permits and contractor registrations. A  Quality Improvement Specialist will perform duties associated with training, primarily for the Customer Service team.  The ideal candidate will, under general supervision, identify and assess training needs, establish training programs and implement those programs to improve the quality of services provided to our customers.  The candidate will coordinate with other divisions, departments and outside agencies to improve customer service delivery.
 
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; to accomplish organizational goals; to solve complex problems and to have a logical and analytical approach to decision-making.
 
The ideal candidate will have strong skills in:
  • Identifying and assessing training needs to improve quality of services, processes, and procedures.
  • Establishing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Developing training programs.
  • Conducting permitting and process training; intra and inter-departmentally.
  • Testing and updating processes with new software, system updates and equipment.
  • Researching best business practices and ensuring processes, policies, and procedures are current.
 
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Three (3) years of related customer service experience.
 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Municipal or local government experience with permitting software
  • A mastery of MS Office suite of products (Including MS Project)
  • The ability to research, analyze and evaluate business procedures and processes
