Sr. Analyst Accounting

  • Manage the reporting, forecasting and account reconciliation process for accounts receivables, bad debt reserves, liquidated damages, and notes receivable to ensure proper reporting
  • Prepare and analyze the bad debt reserve and bill adjustment package for management review during the monthly revenue close meeting and develop and provide variance explanations by working with business partners to understand the activities which transpired during the month.
  • Prepare the quarterly and annual Accounts Receivable footnote and other schedules related to accounts receivable as needed.
  • Analyze contractual discounts to determine proper classification for revenue recognition and input analysis information into tool to calculate impact.
  • Manages and performs the review and final preparation of the external auditor PBC’s for revenue selections.
  • Perform technical accounting research and other ad hoc projects as needed
Successful candidate must be a self-starter, who is detail oriented, has the ability to meet deadline-oriented tasks, and is able to facilitate and organize team efforts to accomplish common goals.  Applicant must be able to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities and work well in a team environment.  This position will positively contribute to a high-morale/high-performance culture.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business management, finance, accounting or related field required
  • Working knowledge of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, including task coordination and decision making, as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to interact well with other departments and senior management, and meet a wide variety of critical deadlines
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and solid problem solving skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • At least two years of working experience in revenue accounting or related area
  • Experience with BNSF’s Revenue Accounting System (RAS) and Transportation Support System (TSS) is helpful
  • An understanding of the revenue pipeline process flow including waybilling, rating, collections, and interline and how these activities impact revenue reporting is helpful
