Cook Children's Health Care System is looking for a Benefits Director who will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, compliance and administration of group benefit programs, which include:
  • group health
  • dental
  • vision
  • short-term disability
  • worker's compensation
  • life insurance
  • travel and accident plan
  • flexible spending plan
  • 403(b), 401(a), 401(k) and 457(B) retirement plans
As our Benefits Director, you will Investigate new benefit programs, improve existing programs, supervise and monitor benefit administration and compliance with all laws and regulations.  You will:
  • design cost effective employee benefit plans designed to attract, retain and motivate talent
  • provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs
  • Lead design programs utilizing industry best practices, benchmarking and collaboration focused on rewarding, retaining and attracting a talented workforce. 
Your role as the Benefits Director will also include collaboration with other members of the HR Leadership team in the implementation and execution of the benefits programs.  Additionally, you will be the leader who tracks and measures financial impact of benefit programs, develops and monitors budgets, including adoption and usage of plans/programs.
  • Determine proper course of action to resolve escalated customer service issues
  • Interpret plan procedures and policies
  • Recommend and advise on benefit enhancements and changes
  • Refer strategic issues to the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources
  • Coordinate benefit setup, deduction and compliance reporting issues with Information Systems, Human Resources, Field Staff and Tax Compliance
  • Ability to work as a team with Human Resources, Actuary, Accounting, Managers, Legal, Marketing and Public Relations departments on benefits issues
  • Provide excellent customer service to the employees of Cook Children's Health Care System
  • Outside contacts include physicians, insurance companies, network providers, drug companies, attorneys, third party administrators, worker's compensation companies, other benefits vendors and outside consultants
Direction and guidance will be provided by the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. The director determines the expectations, goals, and projects assigned. Government regulations, company goals, contract directives and internal policies provide parameters to the benefits director position.
The benefits director directs the work of the other benefit staff to attain the department's goals.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field; MHRM or MBA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of professional benefits experience, with minimum of 5 years of
  leadership responsibility or similar scope
• CEBS professional designation preferred
• Excellent communication and organization skills are required.
• Project and team management/leadership skills and experience. Proven ability to
  work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment with peers and
  associates. Capability of effective planning and priority setting.
• Action oriented and adept at working in a fast-paced, growing organization. Ability
  to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure
  to meet deadlines
•Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs. Ability to
  understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals (RFP's). Excellent
  analytical skills with ability to synthesize and analyze complex data to develop   
  recommendations based on fact and logic.
• Ability to select, develop, coach, counsel and motivate others.
• Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, with ability to professionally interact with 
  a diverse blend of personalities to reach resolution
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word,    
  Excel, etc. are required
• Knowledge of benefit contract language
• Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance   
  requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs,
  including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation,
  Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements
