Hillwood Investment Properties is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant for its headquarters in Dallas, Texas. This position will have responsibilities within the accounting group of Hillwood Investment Properties (HIP), with the primary focus on monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and reporting responsibilities for the HIP Investment funds in the U.S., as well as similar responsibilities for investments in the Hillwood West division.  There will also be a finance aspect involved in this position.  The U.S. funds focus on the acquisition and development of industrial buildings in the United States, and the Hillwood West division invests in real estate opportunities with developers, builders, and landowners in the Western United States, primarily in California and Arizona.
In addition to the above, this position will entail preparation of financial statements for the U.S. funds and Hillwood West investments, as well as assisting with the audits of these financial statements.  There will also be a focus on preparing recurring schedules related to the performance metrics of the funds and preparation and review of waterfalls, as well as review of Joint Venture financial statements and waterfalls.
·         Prepare financial statements and schedules in support thereof, and assist with recurring audits of financial statements
·         Record regular, recurring investment results and cash contribution and distribution activity for real estate investments
·         Set up and record wires for cash contribution and distribution activity, as well as regular, recurring management and other fees
·         Prepare schedules related to investment sales and record related entries to the general ledger
·         Organize data received, with focus on flexibility and ease of communication to management
·         Understand multiple entity and debt structures
·         Responsibility for inputting annual budget into the accounting system, including conversion of analyst models into accounting system account-level detail budgets
·         Regular comparison of budgeted results to actual
·         Other special projects and assistance within the HIP accounting team including but not limited to assistance with periodic internal management reporting and investor schedules
·         Internal relationships will include but not be limited to associates from multiple disciplines within the division and Corporate Services
·         External relationships will include but not be limited to working with joint venture accounting teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or real estate
  • Previous accounting experience and/or CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Previous experience with financial budgeting and forecasting a plus
  • Fund / Private Equity, or Commercial real estate industry experience in a Big Four or similar environment preferred
  • Previous real estate experience in areas of operations, investment, and development preferred, but not required
  • Experience with JD Edwards accounting software or similar system preferred but not required
  • Good Excel skills preferred
  • General ability to learn and apply new business software
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexibility/adaptability
  • Initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at a fast pace
  • Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be computer literate, understand email software, Microsoft Office products, and web-based applications
  • Understanding of full life cycle accounting of real estate projects from acquisition, development, operations, and disposition a plus
