Sr. Analyst/Asst Mgr. Fuel Management

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position within the Fuel Management team supports the fuel supply functions through analysis, process and system management, and accounts payable support.  Serves as a main accounts payable contact for vendors supplying locomotive diesel fuel and transportation services.  Manages vendor pricing agreements and ensures accurate and timely payment of high volume fuel invoices which includes analyzing and resolving price, tax, and quantity disputes with invoices.  Is responsible for performing monthly inventory reconciliations of fuel warehouses, ensures compliance with ongoing control processes, and provides support for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and testing.  Processes SAP accounting entries and administers various fuel department back office systems.  Analyzes fueling activity and provides reporting and other support for the Fuel Management team as well as other internal BNSF and external entities.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required, preference to BS/BA/BBA degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience.

Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with external vendors and internal stakeholders from other departments.
Must have strong analytical, research and problem solving skills and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.  
Must be self-motivated, have good time and priority management and follow-through and possess the willingness to take ownership of processes and drive improvement in the value of those processes.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Work experience in Accounting or Audit Services. 
Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers and providing high levels of service. 
Experience with SAP, Business Objects (BOBJ), Data Warehouse (DW) or Business Warehouse (BW) or FuelQuest and Fuel Flow Network, other systems frequently used in this position.
BNSF Field experience or familiarity with the BNSF network.
