Assistant Manager/ Manager Accounting
  • Manage and monitor the various revenue systems to ensure revenue information is properly accrued, reported, maintained, and available to business users.
  • Prepare and manage the daily and monthly reporting of detailed revenue projections to be used in forecasting and planning with the assistance of the Marketing Business Units.
  • Provide analysis, explanation and direction in solving complex issues concerning revenue accruals and deductions.
  • Provide direction to enhance reporting capabilities of revenue accounting systems that will provide ability to manage and analyze all revenue related accounts on a daily basis.
  • Manage the monthly closing of revenue financials which includes extensive analysis and explanations that are used by various internal customers (Marketing Business Units, Planning & Forecasting, Tax and Accounting & Reporting) and external customers (Association of American Railroads (AAR) and Surface Transportation Board (STB).
  • Perform Sarbanes Oxley key control activities surrounding the percent complete adjustment for unearned revenue. 
  • Perform analysis and provide support for revenue accounting’s compliance with the new revenue recognition accounting standard ASC 606 “Revenue from Contracts with Customers”.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business management, finance, accounting or related field required.
  • Successful candidate must be detail oriented, well organized, high energy and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Candidate should be a leader and have strong team building skills. Must be able to manage, organize and execute desired outcomes and problem solutions.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to interact well with other departments and senior management, and meet a wide variety of critical deadlines.

  • At least two years working experience in revenue accounting or related area preferred.
  • Experience with BNSF’s Revenue Accounting System (RAS) and Transportation Support System (TSS) is helpful.
  • An understanding of the revenue pipeline process flow including waybilling, rating, collections, and interline and how these activities impact revenue reporting is helpful.
