The American Red Cross Biomedical Services Product Manager is responsible for increasing the profitability of existing products and services by developing new offers and evolving existing offers for the organization.  You will build products from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects.  You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy with the drive to make the mission a reality.  You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand customer problems and recommend innovative and differentiated solutions.
You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with manufacturing counterparts to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist and subject matter expert for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.
  • Managing the entire product life cycle from planning to tactical execution activities for the red blood cell products and services including but not limited to developing marketing strategies, pricing structures, and new product development; and conducting market research and sales performance analysis to develop optimum distribution policies for product.
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and other market sensing activities that help translate customer needs into a superior and differentiated product offering
  • Provide analytic expertise to assess the organization’s present and future product positioning regarding competitive claims, market share, and feasibility of new or replacement products
  • Maintain, track, and analyze key performance metrics to proactively manage, forecast, and improve product adoption and consumption
  • Develop and drive new solution sets across development teams (primarily Recruitment, Collections, Manufacturing, Distribution, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Office, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, manufacturing and distribution, product contract, and positioning
  • Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute
  • 7 to 10 years of marketing/product management experience
  • BA or BS in Marketing, Communications, Administration, or a related field of study
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Team oriented – ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to create, maintain, prioritize, and sequence the product backlog based on business value or ROI
  • Proven ability to apply an analytical and data-driven approach to solving complex problems, building business cases and justifying projects
  • Proven ability to think strategically and develop roadmaps for products and services
  • Ability to solve complex problems and develop solutions and communicate across all levels of the organization effectively
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Business Acumen: Must have an intermediate understanding of company financial measures and financial modeling
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve stakeholder problems/issues/concerns
  • Ideal candidate will have a drive for clarity; able to operate in a shifting and often ambiguous structure and organization
  • Strong analytic and fact-based decision-making skills; ability to distill and communicate findings into concise language and draw fact-based conclusions and recommendations
  • Exceptional written communication and oral presentation skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products including Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook
  • May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
  • Experience in the Healthcare or Pharmaceutical industry is ideal, but not required
