The University of North Texas System invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Financial Policy & Planning . The University of North Texas System (UNTS) is a dynamic, growing university system serving primarily the North Texas region. The System campuses include the University of North Texas (UNT) Denton campus, the state’s fourth largest university with more than 38,000 students; the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth, with 2,362 students; and the UNT at Dallas campus with 3,500 students.
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Planning & Public Policy reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Analysis & Planning and provides strategic leadership in the areas of policy analysis and implementation, financial planning, and budget preparation. The incumbent serves as a resource to all levels of management and operating entities within the UNT System in evaluating the effects of State and other public policy/legislation on fiscal matters in order to make decisions that support the institutions’ strategic mission. Under general direction, the incumbent will coordinate and review operating budgets and reporting to the Board of Regents, external reporting to state and federal agencies, and proposals for new projects and policies. The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Planning & Public Policy will oversee the System Administration Budget.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure that revenue and expenditure planning, and budgeting for the System and its component institutions are compliant with all relevant requirements, policies, and legislation.
  • Advising the senior leaders of the System and each component institution of new laws, policies, and opportunities which will affect the financial management of the institution and suggesting policies and procedures to enhance the financial strength and stability of the organization.
  • Analyzing innovative practices in finance and budget management in higher education and developing programs for the UNT System.
  • Reviewing state and federal financial reporting by the UNT System and its component institutions to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Leading other financial improvement projects as directed by the Vice Chancellor for Finance and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Analysis & Planning.
