Sr. Accountant

As a Senior Accountant, you will participate in the processing, maintenance, and reporting of the Board’s financial information. Related responsibilities include professional level work in the area of governmental accounting – particularly lease accounting. You will also have the ability to set up this new function within the Airport’s Finance department.
What you will be doing:
  • Analyzes business contracts to comply with lease accounting rules generating the required journal entries, reports, and financial statement notes.
  • Applies present value and discounted cash flows to calculate lease values.
  • Interprets and applies GASB, GAAP and other mandated accounting standards.
  • Supports the development, modification, implementation and/or integration of new and revised financial systems; work involves extensive contact and coordination with Airport Board staff, auditors, internal and external customers and other outside agencies.
  • Assists in staff training and process documentation. 
  • Participates, on an as needed basis, in the preparation of the CAFR; Rates, Fees, and Charges; Forecast; and Schedule of Charges.
  • Leads or participates in project teams involved in financial related projects, develops work plans, captures and analyzes information and presents findings.
  • Performs technical advanced-level accounting, applying appropriate principles, practices, and procedures when recording, maintaining, adjusting, and balancing financial records.
What you need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • At least three years of experience in financial accounting.
  • At least two years of experience in financial analysis.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • A valid Class C driver's license.
What we desire:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • 3-5 years of Lease accounting experience
  • Master’s in Business or Public Administration.
  • At least three years of experience in project management.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and writing explanations for variances.
  • Progressively responsible, professional-level experience in accounting functions.
  • Knowledge of contract administration principles and practices.
