The Talent Management Specialist is a member of the Talent Management team, reporting to the Manager, Talent Management. This position has the awesome privilege of helping leaders create a shared understanding of their talent, enabling continuous performance and goals conversations between managers and team members, and monitoring American’s leadership pipeline so we continue to have strong leaders in our company. This role will also have the opportunity to support our selection and development assessments practice as needed. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, possessing a unique set of analytical as well as people skills. This role collaborates closely with Talent Development team members and People Business Partners in a cohesive, caring, development and results focused environment.
Specifically, you’ll do the following:
  • Pull reports in existing formats and create new formats as needed
  • Maintain general reports and dashboards using data from Success Factors
  • Troubleshoot reporting and dashboard issues, participate in system testing for new functionality deployments and routine system updates
  • Collaborate with People Business Partners to educate and answer questions
  • Create education tools and activities promoting the use of self-service reporting functionality
  • Answer questions from the employee population about talent management initiatives
  • Support talent review and succession planning processes that help leaders understand their talent and create a leadership pipeline
  • Manage highly confidential, sensitive data that demands accuracy to serve the needs of senior leaders
  • Interact with leaders at all levels
  • Drive the Talent Conversations approach in all processes and communications 
  • Monitor, report, analyze, and drive improvements in the effectiveness of Talent Management and Assessments processes
  • Support other projects related to department and/or organizational strategy, as defined and prioritized
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Psychology, Business or related field
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Intermediate technical experience with HRIS systems, MS Office, Access, Reporting software
  • Experience creating instructional documents and communicating processes
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in Project Management and/or Data Analysis
  • Track record of achieving transformational results in a large organizational setting preferred
  • Ability to create accurate reporting and complete data analysis providing a detailed professional output for Managing Director level and above
  • Exceptional excel and project management skills
  • Some experience with Tableau
  • Ability to take the initiative anticipating and handling problems or incidents before they become major issues
  • Energetic, forward-thinking and implementation focused
  • Proven ability to manage highly confidential, sensitive data with integrity and with the highest levels of accuracy
  • Establishes relationships with and maintains key relationships/partnerships throughout the organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively – when speaking/presenting and in writing, in one-on-one and group settings, while shifting as appropriate for the audience; practices good listening skills
  • Works well in a team environment; collaborates with diverse individuals and groups; consistently displays a readiness and willingness to share knowledge; is open to different perspectives and to building consensus

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and professional written and oral skills

  • Ability to work as a team member and independently when necessary
  • Ability to analyze, correlate, and determine proposed next steps based on data
  • Ability to create reporting and complete data analysis providing a professional output
  • Skillfully uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Continuous learning and change management mindset
  • Ability to plan for the future, providing a clear framework for prioritizing work to achieve business objectives, while recognizing the uncertain nature of the future
  • Track record of achieving transformational results in a large organizational setting preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Process, tools and techniques to manage people-side of business change to achieve required business outcome
  • Understanding the knowledge and concepts of succession planning and performance management preferred
  • Experience facilitating and presenting to groups at all organizational levels preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience with Performance Management, Succession Planning, Org Development, or related experience preferred
